A good sport to do during winter?

Can a rear wheel drive sport car drive in winter with snow tires?

  • I have an infiniti g35 that I just bought this spring and its first winter with me is fast approaching. its a rear wheel car, and I know sport cars in general are not made to be driven in snow. But, if I replaced all four tires with snow tires, will it perform as good in snow as any other car?

  • Answer:

Sure they can, I see them all the time. Get a separate wheel and tire combination. Its a good idea to go a size smaller with the wheel size, this also means the tire will be narrower. Tire rack has winter tire wheel packages, they also explain the winter tire wheel downsizing.

Yes. Just know how to control your car in certain situations.

I drove a mid 1960's MGB Roadster through 3 Central Ontario, Canada Winters with dedicated snow tires on all 4 corners. And an MGB doesn't have nearly the ground clearance that your car does. Plus, you have the advantage of traction control and ABS too.

Since i live in Northern Alberta where we get many feet of snow i feel particularly qualified to answer this one....LOL Yes. With snows all the way around that car will be no better or worse then any other. I have owned everything from sedans to a 300ZX and the Z gave me only a little more trouble than the sedan just because of the torque the wheels put out. Just be easy on the gas pedal and you should be fine.
