Answer:
Tap your brakes just enough to make the brake lights come on and check your rear view mirror. Look straight ahead and pull up about 3 feet (a car door width) alongside the other vehicle. Match up your rear bumpers (find the rear of the other car in the far bottom corner of your larger rear door window of the passenger side of your vehicle). Look around for any hazards. Find a reference point approximately 45 degrees out to your left (point your hand out across the street over your driver's side mirror to a reference point......a window on a house, tree, bush,, etc). After looking around for oncoming vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, etc., begin backing slowly, covering your brake, for about 1/2 second, and then while moving slowly, steer fully towards the curb (right). Once the front of your car is facing that 45 degree reference point, slowly continue and steer until you are moving in a straight line (steer left about 1-1/2 turns), move slowly back straight until the front of your bumper is even with the rear bumper of the other vehicle. Continue moving slowly, covering your brake, and then steer full left, until you are straight along side of the curb line, within 18 inches (50 cm) of the curb, and you can see the bottom of the tires of the car ahead of you. Remember to always move a bit before steering. Learn to FEEL the movement of your car as you reverse into your space. Remember to look to the rear and check your passenger side mirror a bit as you come along side the curb to ensure you are straight and close enough. You usually get three chances to succeed at this on your test. If your rear tire hits the curb, you are probably steering too slowly or your angle was too severe. Good luck....practice!!!!! You can practice in an empty parking lot along the curb, and place some milk jugs with water or sand in them and place some long sticks inside them, placing them so that you can park between them....
