School Bus Stop Sign?

• I was driving home from work the other day when I noticed a school bus stopped at a stop sign with it's sign out, lights flashing and the driver standing in the intersection with another stop sign. I was moving very slowly as I approached the bus and I ended up stopping between the bus's stop sign and the bus drier's stop sign in front of me (I was at least 10-12 feet from the actual intersection stop sign and the bus Driver's stop sign). Now, I know I probably should have stopped right at the bus' stop sign, and this may sound like a lame excuse, but I was just confused as to which stop to stop at! Then the bus driver waved at me and pointed a few feet behind me at the bus's stop sign and he walked into the bus, turned off the lights and drove away in a different direction within the span of a few seconds (he didn't follow me). Will I get a ticket for this? I DID after all stop a couple feet (at most) past the bus' sign but well behind the bus Driver's handheld stop. I'm just really scared out of my mind right about now...thanks. California by the way.

  You're not alone! I know of other incidents where drivers were confused where exactly to stop, but i really don't think you have anything to worry about. Next time you'll know what to do, right?
