How much is a DMV driving report?

Driving record for post office position?

  • I am taking the test for the post office but one thing I'm concerned about is the safe driving record. According to the dmv the last accident they have on record was in 2004 but in NY state accidents get removed from your record after four years, in my case Jan. 1 2008. However how far back could they search? Also I was caught driving without my seatbelt back in 2003 and I had an expired registration sticker on my car at the time but I sent in a copy of my updated registration and paid the fee, I did have my sticker I just never got around to sticking it on my car. Is this something that will compromise my chances. Are they just looking for accidents or minor things like driving with expired registration sticker or not wearing seat belt? It was so long ago and I don't think it will still show up on my dmv report. Is that how they search your driving record, through the DMV or some other way?

  • Answer:

I have had many customer that work for the post office and yes they will pull your driving record from the DMV, the sticker will be no big deal but the seat belt will be another issue because to them that is a major safety liability. Fill out everything correctly and dont lie and see what will happen but I can tell that from reading articles about the post office they are not hiring people at this time but you do need to get your application on file,,,,,,,good luck. Update.......... Yes it should but remember that this is the post office so they will be able to find everything.......
