When we use poco and why?

Why do other drivers seem to go mad when you have to use your horn to warn them of your presence?

• I passed my test in June, and try and follow as much of the Highway Code as possible to be a safe and efficient driver. One of the things my driving instructor said though was to use the horn ONLY when you feel it is necessary eg to warn others of your presence eg I am here, and never to use it in a way like "get out of my way". I have come across what I would perceive to be (and hopefully many others in my situation) dangerous and very careless drivers. Some instances but to name; a week after my test, I was sat stationary in my car outside the doctors surgery and this old man reversed into me. When I was using my horn to warn him prior to reversing, he went mad, even though he knocked my car. I was only trying to tell him of my presence since he was reversing carelessly into my car! Other times have been when people have suddenly (and I mean suddenly) pulled out of junctions without looking, or if they did look, not properly. This frightens me, as I have to brake quite hard, sometimes emergency stopping, even if I was going at a safe speed. Again, when I toot to warn them of my presence, they go mad. The most recent incident involved a motorbike. I am particularly wary of bikes on the roads as they are vulnerable. Most cyclists often thank me say if I give them room to overtake or let them pass. The other week though, I was driving at the correct speed limit in a village (30mph), when this silly motorcyclist about 10 ft from me wheeled his bike out right in front of me, and proceeded to put his helmet on. Now, that seems strange as why would you do that in a main road, why not off the road, have seen many cyclists prepare themselves to go off road. Anyway, I literally, and I mean literally here, had to slam my foot down, he scared the hell out of me. Again, I had to warn him, and what did he do? Stuck his finger up at me and shouted a tirade of abuse! Surely he would rather that than me run over him? So why do drivers get so angry when others toot them? (Ok, not all, but some). If someone did it at me, like they did in my driving test (car started to roll back in traffic) I would try and analyse it quickly in my head, ok, why did they beep the horn, what did I do etc. Why do you think people get so angry though?

  I know what you mean, haha I think that they get embarrassed and need to find some way to defend themselves so they give you the finger or act all ticked off. What I cant stand is when your driving down a two way street and the person coming towards you will hug the side of the road because they have a fancy car and they think youll hit it or something
