Will insurance companies pay for damages caused by an Act of God?

Why aren't wrecks caused by deer considered an "act of God" by insurance companies any more?

  • Insurance companies don’t cover the cost to repair a vehicle if damaged by hitting a deer on the roadways. I live in Georgia and I’m not certain these same rules apply in all states or just the southern states and northern states where deer are a major problem on the roads. Why aren’t these types of accidents covered when they can’t always be prevented?

  • Answer:

Because so many people hit them in certain areas, they really are hard to avoid when they jump over a fence right onto your hood or dart from behind something right in your path, they are hard to miss at night, no matter how careful a driver you are. The insurance companys just want our $, There are not any deer where the policy decision makers are living, I,ll bet. Blubla

becasue they think if you can see then you should not hit a deer!!!!!

What they (the insurance co.) argues is that by using due care and lookout, even striking a deer can be prevented. I'm with you on this, though, I don't think it can always be prevented. Very good question! Perhaps call different ins. companies and see if any will cover it.

I think it depends on your insurance company. I am almost positive that mine still considers it an 'act of god.'
