Does a bmw 318i se 2.0l 2002 have a distributor cap?

Bmw 318i se auto puddle of water under car?

  • The car is a 2002 with 80000 on the clock, it first lost water and over heated after a run but the temp gauge was sitting normal, it went into a garage they checked for exhaust gas in coolant system, thermostat and water pump, they found it to be the temp sensor (intermitant) so replaced it, also a collapsed vacuum pipe. Since this was done the car started to cut out when i slowed down it had never done that before the work was carried out, so i decided to put it into bmw who replaced the oxygen sensor (still cut out) they then found the car was leaking oil into the sparks so they put in a new cam gasket and spark plugs they also replaced the oil strainer breather hose, connecting line and return pipe. This seems to of cured the cutting out problem however i noticed today when i pulled out of my drive that there is a puddle of water under the car about 12 inches round, i dont know if it had lost it over night or when i started the car, but it does seem like plain water the consistency and no smell or colour? If you look under the oil cap, it looks lovely just how it should however there is a milky substance on the dip stick, but the car had the gasket checked and was ok?

  • Answer:

I'm guessing you ran the air con/heater last night before you got home...... most modern systems drop some fluids on cooling. Yellow stuff on the oil cap area suggests lots of short journeys.
