What 1996 car is the best?

1996 Caprice Classic rear passenger-side wheel pop out the car with the axle. How and what needs to be fixed?

  • When i got out the car i could see about 3ft of the axle sticking out the car with the wheel still connected to it, also the brake disc hit the floor. I had to tow the car home. Last year it was in a accident were the Caprice was hit on the passenger side were the rear tire was the middle of the impact by a 35mph ford taurus.

    The clip that holds the axle in the rear end housing broke, You need to have someone who knows what they are doing to fix it. This is not a simple thing to do like changing spark plugs.

this happened to me. The original axle diff broke, so got one from a friends car that was wrecked. that lasted a year and the axle came out like yours. the axle housing was bent and wore the groove for the c clip till it fell out. To be safe, get an entire complete rear end that has not been hit and replace it all. If you look at the end of the axle, you might see the groove that was worn and is now wider than it should be. the axle rubs halfway around putting pressure on the clip.
