Automotive Repair Forum is Broken, Whats Wrong?

• Hi all, I am an ASE Certified Master Tech and also an ASE L1 Advanced Tech. and I see a lot of people on here who honestly need help that are getting pathetic information from Backyard Benny and people who don't even understand what they are talking about. I also see other people on here like me that are trying to help that do know what they are doing because the answers are correct but Backyard Benny or Side Job Bob keeps giving them a thumbs down. The misinformation on this forum is horrible and ultimately drives up the prices of vehicle repair for everyone in the long run because people spend money they don't have for something that doesn't fix the car then they take it back to the store and the store sends it back then the manufacturer raises the prices to compensate for Backyard Benny's stupidity. I see people on here thinking all the time that they are getting ripped off when they are just mad over what they don't understand. People on here actually think that a code reader will tell you what part to change when it is nothing like that. The machine that fixes cars does not exist folks unless you are talking about an experienced human mind. You people on here know who you are. You either are trying to help and know what you are doing or you are looking stupid trying to impress your mechanical intelligence that you don't have on other people honestly looking for help, and you are just looking stupid to the people that do know what they are doing. Come on folks if you don't know what you are talking about with your answers find another forum to run up your score and let the real auto people on here help the people that really need it.

  I totally agree. It ticks me off when I give an answer then some nose picker gives a thumb down. I was an ASE mechanic, and now wire airplanes. If I am unsure of an answer I'll look it up. Thanks for saying what a lot of us feel.
