**car maintenance** do I really need this stuff done on my car?
-
Mazda6 37,000 mi (Ive had all my regular oil changes & tire rotations) I get maintenance done at the dealership & they said I need: transmission fluid $110- throttle body cleaning $110- cabin filter $48- air filter $25- tire rotation $15- oil change $28- is this true or b.s. thanks-

Answer:
Read your owners manual. The only maintenance that is required at this mileage will be listed there. One thing I can guarantee is the "throttle body cleaning" is not on that list. Brake Fluid flush probably isn't either although every 36 months is a good idea on that. The other stuff likely is due for this year/make/model.

trans fluid- kinda too soon. around 50-60K miles is good throttle body cleaning- too soon cabin filter and air filter- depends how dirty they are oil change and tire rotation- depends if they're due

Way to soon for most of it, but it's a Mazda.
the new air filter is really the only thing you need right now, have the transmission fluid changed at 50,000 miles, you already do the tire rotation and oil change and if the car is running fine you don't need a throttle body clean right now, most people never change the cabin filter.

its recommended not needed

seems too soon for some of it - go by what your Owner's Manual says Schedule for both of my cars (Fords): transmission flush & fill: 100,000 miles........throttle body cleaning: no such recommendation........heater filter & air filter: 30,000.........rotate tires 7500 miles.........and I change the oil & filter every 3500 to 4000 miles although the book says 7500. I'm assuming the car is out-of-warranty: I've had to have required maintenance done on cars I don't drive much (based on time, not mileage) just to keep the warranty in effect.

Change tran fluid usually at 50k. Throttle body cleaning shouldn't be done right now Have them show you the old cabin filter and if it is dirty then replace it. Probably not though. Rotation would be a good idea. Oil change would definitely be a good idea. Brake fluid should be left alone for awhile.

My Mazda6 has 80,000 problem free miles and I expect a lot more.I did have the trans fluid changed as a precaution,at a quick lube, for around $50.It never hurts to do the maintenance they suggest, but necessary? I wouldn't have them do anything.

tune ups on these newer cars are not cheap, filters are always good to keep new and clean. trans fluid should not have to be changed if there is no trouble with the trans, as long as color is good then it should be fine. dealers make money through service and repairs, so, you do the math. lol

i could do all that for you for 50$ if you but the supplys but no you dont need that stuff done
