What are some good ideas for a practical and affordable starter home?

I suddenly lost spark in my 1992 eagle summit while driving down the road.any ideas what to check?

  • The car was running just fine prior to total failure.suddenly the engine died.after having the car towed home I determined that it is not generating any spark.everything else seems to be working fine(lights starter etc...)there is no external coil on the car so i am at a loss as to where to start looking for whatever it was that failed.any ideas would be appreciated.thank you.

  • Answer:

Is the rotor turning under the distributor? Take off the distributor cap and see if the rotor is rotating. If your rotor is not turning then, my guess is the timing belt broke. If the rotor is turning then my guess would be the coil (internal) or igniter module.

Try and check the distributor cap, etc., and distributor itself. It may have broken, same thing happened once to my dad while he was driving his '91 civic. The screw that was holding the rotating cap snapped off. So we just drilled through both of the parts and put a new screw through. I hope that helps...

change Ur distributor

not sure about the eagle but it never hurts to check, some cars have a control module on the distributor. serves the same purpose as a coil. if it goes out the car will quit all the sudden and get no spark at all

have friend with eagle talon, Should be a black plastic cover i believe its on the drivers side of the engine, just a couple of bolts hold it in place. remove the cover and you'll see the timing belt, my bet is its you belt, belt costs about fifty bucks and it not to hard to replace just be sure that you line up your timing marks on the crank and the cam.
