How can errors be checked?

What's wrong with my Ford Focus? It turns off at every stop! A mechanic checked his comp and said no errors.

  • It just turns off. A friend changed my burnt sparkler cables, my spark plugs, my fuel filter and other stuff, but he can't seem to find what's wrong with it. Is there something else wrong with it? When a mechanic hooked it up to a comp to check to see what's wrong with it, nothing came up since the check engine light isn't on. What's up with the car? It's a 2000 Ford Focus SE.

    Faulty fuel pump and or fuel injection system!

Yeah, I'd go with the fuel pump and injectors answer, as someone else suggested.

It might be the ignition coils. A friend of mine had a ford escort that would sometimes shut off at stops and had a rough idle. The dealership computer couldn't find anything wrong but when he replaced the coils, the car ran great.

Shouldnt have gotten a Ford...they're crappy!!!

Replace the fuel filter first. If the problem continues your either looking at a bad fuel pump or bad fuel pressure regulator. And to all those Ford haters.....at least our company didn't lose $8 billion in sales last year...*cough* GM *cough*. And Mitsubishis....it should be a crime to own one.

Our Ford Escort did the same thing a year ago. We found out that it was the "Tube Assy-Crankcase" that had a hole in the foam area, and it was the reason that kept shutting down the engine. It wasn't like every stop, but like every 10 to 15 minutes the engine would turn off. I don't know whether this help you or not, but you can have it look at. By the way, we have a Ford Focus too and it is just fine and fabulous!
