Have to park my new car outside, can the water sprinklers damage my car?
-
Just got a new tacoma and I have to park it outside. The problem is I have timed sprinklers, and when my car dries it gets water spots on my car, which makes it dirty. Will it damage my car mechanically or cosmetically? I was thinking about setting the timer so it goes off when Im away from work.

Answer:
No, the minerals in water may be difficult to remove, but should not damage the finish...If you live in an area of acidic rain, the cumulative effect will eventually damage the finish...the biggest natural enemy to an auto is the sun...sunlight will make paint fade, dry out rubber parts (like wiper blades), and dry out dashboards eventually ending with cracking...

water spots are very difficult to remove and if you have hard water, you may not be able to remove them at all... change the timer

GET IT OUTTA THERE!!!!!!!!!!! If you still want the car there in the morning. That water is gonna disolve the whole car, screw up the timing and the transmission, break your side mirrors and possibly change the fuel to diesel. I'd move it soon. My uncle drove through a puddle once and his car broke down and caught fire. Then blew up.

Only if you leave the windows down.

I believe if you leave the waterspots on too long, they'll become very hard to take out. So a good cleaning or rinse every now and then is good for it. I'm pretty sure they'll buff out though, don't think it's a permanent problem.

Only if you park in your yard and accidentally run over one or if you leave your windows down.

no, unless your water is very hard, acidic, or rusty. just give a good waxing time to time. also watering in the early moring is prime time, if you work the 8-5 and run it mid-day, it just evaporates

yup it will damage it, just like the rain does

Water spots, particularly those made by hard water can literally etch paint. I would suggest adjusting the timer. It's any easy fix and will prevent you from worrying about it.
