How can I get rid of carpet stains?

How can I get stains out of a van carpet? ?

  • I have a van that I'm going to sell, but I'm currently cleaning it. The carpet has a lot of stains. It's practically brown, and I can tell it used to be silvery grey! I know the stains are not coming from underneath, so please do not tell me to take the carpet out and clean underneath. Are there any specific cleaning products that really work? Or methods I could use? Thank you!!!

    you can do a few things, one would be soak the carpet in warm soapy water and vac it up ( with a wet vac ) or you can get vacs that spit out soap as you vac along and they work a treat! i used to be a car detailer and wet vacs are awesome + you get that nice fresh smell. if you want to make it easier just take it to a detailers and pay 80 - 100 but the car will look new :)

Rent a carpet shampooer from a grocery store. Get one with an upholstery attachment and use that to clean your carpets in the van. You can use the shampoo / stain remover they sell, or use your own choice of cleaner. I usually make my own from a low sudsing detergent and some bleach. Be careful if mixing your own cleaner and never mix bleach with ammonia. Just make sure to use something that will not create a lot of suds, since that can leave a deposit on your carpets and it won't clean up as nicely.
