How do you remove the speedometer from a 1975 Porsche 914?

• I have just purchased a "project car" which is a 1975 Porsche 914. The first thing that needs to be repaired is the speedometer which is not working although the odometer is. I have removed the gauge from the dashboard but cannot figure out how to remove the odometer reset cable so I can remove the gauge completely, dismantle the gauge, and figure out what is not working. Any ideas why the speedometer might not be working? The cable and all the wires are plugged in correctly in the back. Thank you.

  You don't say whether it is the how fast you are going or the how far you have gone part that doesn't work , but this should help. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Mult_gauge_repair/mult_gauge_repair.htm I don't know how to remove the reset cable, I just pull the speedo out with it still attached. I can't think of a reason to remove it.
