How long is the boot in a Vauxhall Vectra?

Jammed lock on vauxhall (opel) vectra?

  • The boot on my 3-yr old vauxhall vectra has stopped unlocking electronically. Although the lights flash when I press the key fob it does not unlock. Similarly, from inside the car the button on the door gives it's usual beep but again the boot does not unlock. I can unlock with the key. the boot cannot be opened without the key in the lock. help

  • Answer:

I had a similar problem with an old Cavalier. I don't expect the technology has moved on much... There are a few options for what is wrong. 1: The locking mechanism is broken. In the Cavalier this was a very simple rod mechanism which prevented the boot being opened. 2: You have a wiring or fuse fault and the locking mechanism is not getting power. 3: The car has a feature which disables the boot autolock. Unless you want to get out the Haynes manual and start to dissassemble the interior panels on the boot (which I did!) this is a trip to a garage. As far as I know this should not be an expensive job as long as the fault is at the boot end of the car. If you have a problem with the security controller that might be a bit more pricey.. Good Luck !
