What is a link wheel? How does it work?

My 93 F-150 4x4 has a clunking noise, steers erratically, and feels like a wheel is about to fall off. HELP?

  • DS ball joint, drag link, inner/outer tie rod ends all round are new. A front end alignment lasted 1 day. This thing occasionally tries to steer contrary to my directions, lurching the wheel in my hand, not often, tho...weird as heck to me. I'm at wit's end trying to get this thing to steer correctly and ride the road like it doesn't want to throw me off my seat when I hit uneven road. The sway bar seems loose to me, but I've no frame of reference to be certain. Could that be the whole problem, loose bushings on the sway bar? Is it supposed to have any side to side give to it, or not? This is my only transportation to work, etc., until spring when the bike is an option again. Any help is greatly appreciated, and desperately needed just now. Thanks to all who post in honest attempts to be helpful, in advance and from the heart.
