What are some physical and chemical differences between gas and water?

After I got bad gas(water), and it cost me almost $700 to fix. Should gas station be responsible for it?

  • I paid $25 cash in a Shell gas station tuesday morning. After I left the gas station, the car started acting up. so, it broke down 2 miles away from the gas station. I called the towing company, they brought the car to the shop to get it check up. The next day, the shop called me saying " there's a huge amount of water in the gas tank. about 70% water." So, they asked me if i filled up the tank myself recently or someone else did it. I said i just left the gas station, that was when it broke down on me. they suggested me to talk to the gas station see if i can get my $700 bill taken cared of. I don't know what to do? I heard lots of people say that the gas station is not gonna pay me back. I need some ideas now. I am afraid they are not gonna take me seriously. please help.

  • Answer:

The gas station has liability insurance and they're liable for the products they sell. *Contact the fuel station in person and ask for a *claim form for repairs to your car as soon as possible! Tell them exactly what happened. Show them your fuel receipt or get one from your credit card company. If they give you a line of crap, go to your local district attorney's office with a copy of your bill. They are positively liable regardless what "lots of" people have told you. Have the repair done at a new car dealer that sells your make of car.

First off did you get a receipt... if so that is a start,/...., in these days and times not to many honorable people and or businesses. i recently got ripped off by sears and there new craftsman lawnmower even in my time frame of return they refuse to do anything with receipts and warranty ect long story but you will need documentation witnesses and a lawyer more than likely.....

Yess. You can most definitely sure them. Just gotta have the machenic's write a statement saying that is was the gas stations fault ur car messed up. A gas station where i lived got regular unleaded mixed up with disel and messed up a bunch of cars & they had to pay for it. Just get a lawyer.

Yeah, if you have a receipt, with teh date and time, and the wrecker receipt with date/time/location. Make copies, go to the gas station, talk to the manager. Don't give away your originals. Give them a few days....they need to talk to their distributor & their insurance co. Then you can go to small claims court. BUT...I think $700 is WAY too high for that repair. About $200 plus towing would be more than enough.

Your obviously State Side (USA) but if you have what we call in the UK ''trading standards office'' where bad or rouge dealers can be dealt with, you could try your version of this government office to see if they can help. If not ask the dealer if they are willing to help. when you do this take some one with you as a witness's, or even record the conversation, if they do not want to co-operate, as said already. speak to a lawyer. It may not be the intent of the dealer to sell 'bad' petrol but they are responsible for selling ''product'' that is fit for purpose, which plainly your fuel was not. Good luck with it.

wow i would think that it has a leak in the tank or got shipped bad gas, i would make them fix it since its enough water to be noticeable to a point they should have fixed it

yea i can see that happening ! what they will say you got the gas someplace else. all you can do is chalk it up for experience and not get anymore gas there. a lot of people say your not going to get any money off of them? believe them because your not. even if you have a receipt saying you got gas there then all they are going to say is you got gas again after you left there.
