What tire size would fit a mercury mountaineer 1998 and make it taller?

  • I have a mountaineer 98 and the size for it is p235 75 r15 I cant afford rims right now so I wud just prefer to buy a bigger measurement of tires to make my truck taller, will a 16 inch fit in da truck or a p255 work, and how does tire size work? Pls help! (:

  • Answer:

The best way to explain your question is to guide you to the link below. This link will describe how to read a tire sidewall and what all those numbers and letters mean. Basically, using your example, the number p235 indicates a passenger vehicle tire that measures 235 mm in width. The 75 is a measurement in percentage of the sidewall width to the nominal tread width. (The bigger the number, the wider the sidewall, and the higher the tire) r15 indicates a radial tire that measures 15" in diameter at the bead. A 15 requires 15 inch wheels, etc.
