New changes practical car driving test?

Do i need an instructor's car or can it be any car for my driving test?

  • I want to book my practical test sooner than later. can i take it in any car? which is better Take my test when i buy my own car ( obviously taxed and insured ) or Phone a instructor up and use their car which will cost me like £20 per an hour... ?? i don't need lesson what so ever. I passed driving test last year and my insurance got cancelled without me even realising so i kept on driving my car. Got stopped and fined and had to re do my theory and now practical. NEVER DRIVE UNINSURED KIDS!! learn from my mistake even though i didn't mean to do it.

You can, with a few exceptions, use any car. This tells you about it : http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/PracticalTest/DG_4022543

you can do your test in any car you like, as long as your insured to drive it and the vehicle is road legal

Almost any car but not quite. There are some that are not allowed and it has to have an extra mirror fitted for the instructor and conform to a few other things All the details of what you need and what can't be used are here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/PracticalTest/DG_4022543

So long as the car is roadworthy, taxed, insured etc you can use it for a driving test, the only thing you must provide is a second mirror for the examiner. You can buy stick-on ones in Halfords or Ebay for a few quid. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/PracticalTest/DG_4022543

You can use any legal car, but make sure when you turn up to the test centre that you have a qualified driver with you, and don't forget the L plates or the insurance.

I know whatever car you take it in has to have a hand break accessible from the passenger's seat so that the instructor can stop the car if he or she needs to.

you'r car will serve just fine, and as a matter of rule it is recommended,as this is the car you will be driving most.
