Where do you stand on california motorcycle smog (S.B. 435?

Are the Nevada SMOG laws more lenient then California SMOG laws?

  • I am moving from California to Nevada and my car needs to be smogged. Should I do it in Nevada or in California? I know it is cheaper in Nevada. I can get it done for $15. But i have a 1988 Suzuki Samurai that does not seem to want to pass the CA Smog. Also, Can i get a day pass from the California DMV to drive my car to Nevada with no registration? Because I would rather not spend the money twice.

  • Answer:

If you have no registration on your car, you can't drive it anywhere. You can, of course, have it towed or trailered. You can't use a tow dolly, with no registration all 4 wheels must be off the ground. Once you become a resident of Nevada and get your drivers license there, you can ask about the car and what you need to do to get it inspected and registered.
