Can an uninsured driver drive another person's car?

I am insured on another car as named driver(Fully Comprehensive). Can I drive another car with owners permision

  • I am insured as as a named driver of a car(Fully comprehensive).A police stops me while driving a friends car and asks me whether I am insured to drive the car but I tell him on another car.He tells me to take the MOT and Insurance certificate of the car where I am insured as named driver to a police station. Will I loose my points and pay fine?

  • Answer:

you can, but it's not your insurance that would be covering you. it's your friends insurance that will cover you. if your friend wants to use it. he could technically make you pay for any damages. the liabilty and collision coverage of your friends insurance would pay damages to cars or people that you may hit. you can also ask your insurance company to grant you a temporary certificate to drive your friends car.
