Do you need car insurance if you only have your permit?

Do teens with their permit need car insurance if their parents have USAA auto insurance?

  • please provide where u got this info from not jus u came up with it i need proof

  • Answer:

USAA will require that your name be added to the policy once you start driving whether it's on a permit or license. They will likely require it once you reach driving age even if you don't yet have a permit or license. If you're not licensed, you'll be listed as a "prohibited operator" meaning that there will be no insurance coverage in force if you operate any of their vehicles.

All drivers need to be insured, it doesn't matter which insurance company your parents deal with. Your parents can add you to their policy by calling their agent.

You do not need to be listed on your parent's policy until you actually get your license. You parents can verify this with a quick phone call to USAA
