How long does it take to get a settlement from an car accident?
-
I was hit as a pedestrian while waiting for a bus on July 22nd 2009 in Huntington Beach, California. The car that hit me has State Farm which has a max of 100,000 dollar which I should get all of it. I have a lawyer working on it. How long do these cases normally last until I see any money.

Answer:
Could take 3 months....could take 5 years..... I was test riding a customer's motorcycle, stopped at a red light.....was rear ended by a woman, the impact stood the bike straight up and slung me back into her windshield while still on the bike, the front end of the bike was driven back down a catpulted me forward into the back of the van in front of me......I maxed out her $50k in coverage in just my medical bills alone....this accident caused me to lose 13 months in salary....around $45k....it took 4 years for my lawyer (one of THE top law firms in Phoenix) to settle the case....since she was 64 and retired on a fixed income and had very little in assets.....we settled for $18k cash (after my lawyer's fees...I got $12k), instead of drawing it out any longer and possibly not getting anything....... Don't COUNT on it going quickly or EXPECT to get everything you think you will!!!!!

Oh silly rabbit trix are for kids...and this is a trick. First of all your attorney is going to get a third. No attorney worth their weight would get less than that. This is before any medical bills are paid. And the chance of you getting 100k??? not very high unless you had major injuries which you didn't say. There won't be any settlement until you are don treating and released from the doctor. this will take a while if you were injured enough to think you have accumulated a settlement of 100k. Not trying to be mean, just honest. Insurance is not winning the lottery. What were your injuries?

You seem like one of those people who happens to be on the receiving end of an unfortunate incident and thinks they're gonna get paid. What a joke. Did you forget your lawyer gets at least 30% of what the settlement is, plus fees?

i agree with the other posts. you won't get the money until your doctor signs off your paperwork saying you've fully recovered from the accident. insurance companies need that paperwork to prevent future frauds. and yes your medical bills would go way higher than 100,000 .. trust me on that one.. if you spend any days in the ICU then it'd just add about 60,000 extra to your bills. check with your doctors and the hospital you were in... and good luck on getting that money
