Do you have to set an appointment to take a driving permit test?

Will I have to take a written driving test if I already have my permit?

  • I'm currently 17 years old; however, I turn 18 in 9 days. I have my permit, and I took a test in order to obtain it... It wasn't "written", per se, it was on the computer, but I imagine it's the same thing. It was over state laws, signs, etc. etc. I want to go get my actual license on my birthday. My question is, do I have to take another written test, or can I just take my driving test in order to get my license? Again, for clarification, I have ALREADY taken a written test to get my permit once, and I want to know whether or not I have to take it AGAIN for my license. I live in Dallas, Texas, for the record.

  • Answer:

Yes, you must take another written test. The test for your drivers license is not the same as the test for your permit.
