How old do you have to be to have a moped in Quebec?

Should i get a moped or wait and get my car license? Help!!!?

  • Im 16 turning 17 on nov 9th and im contemplating getting a moped or a car licence . I just want to be able to have the freedom to travel and drive places without having my parents taxi me... I know a moped i can buy for 600 bucks its a yamaha zuma 50cc and goes 80km/hr max i just dont know how much the insurance costs ect... or i can pay 1200 bucks and get my drivers licence which takes me 12 months to get my probational.... and i know i wont be able to afford to buy/insure a car because they cost 1000+ for insurance and the prices for the cars themselves vary.. All my friends have their licenses and they have cars so i feel in a way left out... what should i do? should i buy a moped to get on the road and get some experience? or should i buy my license and save up for a while to afford a car? keep in mind i live in Quebec so id only be able to ride the moped for 4-5 months.

    Go for the moped license first. For some period of time that will get you back and forth from school work whatever. then go for you provisional.. r
