How can I get a hardship license?

How can I get a hardship license at 15?

  • I have a parent who has medical issues and I need to get my license. I don't know exactly what to do. Can you please tell me exactly what to do in order to get my hardship license. I live in San Antonio, Texas by the way.

  • Answer:

The minimum age is 15, but less than 18. Applicants 18 and over are not eligible for a MRDL/Hardship. * Present proof of Identity and Social Security Number. * Complete and submit the DL-77 MRDL application for screening of eligibility to your local Texas Driver License office. * Obtain Parental Authorization Signature (parent must be present to sign.) * Complete required forms available at your Texas Driver License office. * Proof of Texas vehicle registration and liability insurance, if you own a vehicle. * Pay the required fee. * Pass the written, driving* and vision examinations. * Application must include photograph and thumbprints; however, thumbprints are not included on the driver license. The second site below is the application.
