How can I get a title for my classic car if I lost the title years ago?
-
I had bought the car in 1996 from a guy in Virginia. My parents(I was 14 at the time) most likely didnt transfer the title into my name because MI doesnt have a record of the title. Now im in the military in North Carolina and brought the car down here. How can I get the title or a copy of the title sent to me? Michigan cant help me I was thinking calling Virginia? Anyone have any ideas?

Answer:
Do you still have that old bill of sale, or ANYTHING proving that ownership was transferred out of the other person's name? You're going to have a hard time doing this, and it's going to cost a lot of money. The exact procedure varies by state. The EASIEST thing to do, is contact the old owner, and ask them to sign a duplicate title over to you. IF you can find them.
