Can driving records from Massachusetts be pulled in Arizona?

Driving Record Incorrect?

  • Ok two years ago I got pulled over and found out I was driving with a suspended license. I did not know because I was a student away at college and all mail was being sent to my mom's house in another state. Since I was a student, I did not have to register my car in my college's state. I also did not get to go home a lot, so I didn't get the mail until after all this. Yes stupid on my part, but true. So I got charged with driving with a suspended license and spent the night in jail. I paid the fine and have endured the extremely high increase in insurance since then. I thought it was just a result of driving with a suspended license. Well, money has been getting tighter so I started looking around at other car insurance companies. They were all really high as well so I reexamined my policy. On their records it shows that I have four violations for driving under suspension! There are two on the day that I got pulled over and two on the day I paid my fine. My question is is this correct? Or are my records wrong? How do I go about fixing something like this if it is wrong? Don't get me wrong, I take full responsibility for my part in this, but being charged with four major violations when I only got pulled over once seems extreme.

  • Answer:

i am in the insurance business...i often see mistakes made by the department of motor vehicles when it comes to driving records. you can dispute it by contacting your states DMV. the only set back is that it often is difficult to get through to someone. in texas i know they have lengthy hold and response times. it sounds like you are a pretty responsible and just made an honest mistake. if you paid all your fines and caught up on everything point that out to whomever you speak with to show them you are not trying to get away with anything. like i said, i would start by contacting the DMV and they should be able to point you in the right direction once you explain your situation. you may have to submit something in writing. sounds like they may have made a mistake...if they did in fact make a mistake they can correct it and then send you a correct copy of your motor vehicle report (MVR). you will need to get a copy of that to your insurance agent. as far as shopping around for insurance i would suggest searching for a non-standard auto insurance company. a non-standard company is basically a company that does not have as many rules or surcharge as much for accidents or tickets. the best place to look is an independent agency. just let them know about your driving history.
