Vehicle Registration in California?
-
So I just recently moved to California. I was told today by somebody here that you need to keep your vehicle registration IN YOUR VEHICLE or you could get fined $1,500 if pulled over.. Is this true? It doesn't really seem safe or sensical to me.. But I'd like to know at any rate if that is true. Thanks to anybody & everybody with reliable answers. :)

Answer:
Yes, you need to keep your registration in your car. NOT your title, your registration. I doubt you'll get a $1500 fine, though. Methinks someone was exaggerating a bit. Check the DMV website for details.

Yes you need to keep the vehicle registration in the vehicle, you also need to keep the proof of insurance in the vehicle. I do not know what the fine would be for not having them, but I doubt the fine would be that high.
