Im 26 with an learners permit and I want to buy my own car and get insurance on it can I do?

I cant take the driving test without a car so Im wondering if I can buy my own car and if I can get my own insurance so I can take the driving test to get my real license.

Yes you can buy a car without a drivers license and yes you can insure a car without a drivers license. Those who tell you that you must have a drivers license to do either are dead wrong. An infant can own a car and all that is needed to insure a car is to have an *insurable interest in the car. * an insurable interest means that the policy holder (or the beneficiary) must stand to suffer a direct financial loss if the event (against which the insurance cover was bought) does occur. BTW. No car rental agency will rent a car to anyone that does not have a valid drivers license

You don't need a driver's licence to buy a car. I don't think you need it for the insurance policy, either. The learner's permit allows you to drive. Call an insurance company and just talk to one of their people. You could call a car rental place too, and see if they'll rent you a car for a day. It's pretty cheap where i'm from. I think they have their own insurances on their vehicles. You might need a credit card for deposit. I'm not sure if a learners permit would be ok for them. Just call and ask what they require.
