Driving Lessons and Driving Instructors?

Should I take driving lessons off two driving instructors?

  • I've been taking driving lessons since around October. I know I'm a good driver and my instructor said the same thing, but 4 months later I was doing the same thing every lesson and there was no indication of him preparing me for my test. I decided to take matters into my own hands and booked the test myself, which he didn't really seem too happy about. I carried on having lessons with him and he not once mentioned giving me a mock test, scheduling more lessons in the run up to my test, or helping me learn the vehicle questions that are asked before my test, and I generally got the feeling he doesn't have any faith in me and just wants more money... It's now less than 2 weeks away and I only have 1 more lesson with him. I feel ready but want more practice, so I decided to phone around and ask for a block of 5 lessons next week, one every day. Most driving schools, though, have told me it's not a good idea as I'm used to one way of being taught and it might confuse me...but I'm not stupid, I know how to drive and I just want to hone a few things before my test. Should I book them anyway and get all the extra practice I can, or just leave it and hope for the best? I would ask my driving instructor for a few more lessons next week but to be honest I think he's a total a*sehole and I don't want him getting any more of my money. Thanks!!!

Hi, I hear this problem time and time again. I'm a Driving Instructor in Birmingham, Some of My Pupils are away at Uni and I encourage them to take lessons with an instructor local to the Uni as it keeps the practise up. I've never found this to be a problem at all in 20 Years of teaching. You need someone that can take You for test, or more to the point, will take You to test. This needs sorting out asap else You risk Losing Your test fee. Regarding the show me tell me questions, visit the dsa web site, print the questions off and get reading. Best of Luck and i hope this helps. Paul
