Will my speeding ticket raise my insurance?
-
I got a speeding ticket in Vermont. The officer told me that the points do not carry over to my NY state license, and if I didn't pay it my license would just be suspended in Vermont. Since it doesn't transfer over, will it raise my insurance?

Answer:
Yea it will

It's called reciprocity. Some states share info, some don't. Sound like Vermont and NY don't. If you don't pay it, it's likely to pop up unexpectedly. I'd pay it.

Its been my experience most insurance companies count incidents not points and only rate a policy after two incidents during the past three years
