i am 16 and i want to get my license OR permit so do i have to take drivers ed or is there like a test that the dmv offers or any other test that would let me get a license or permit.

Answer:
To get a permit/license in IL under the age of 16, you must have registered (permit) and/or completed (licensed) a driver's ed course. To get a permit, you must show you are registered for an approved course, and to get the license, you must show you passed the course. If you do not want to take a class, you have to wait until age 18.
