Getting my drivers license in Michigan?

Chances of getting Michigan Drivers License Reinstated?

  • In Oct. 2006 my Mich Drivers License was revoked- due to 2nd DWI. Since June 2007 I have been totally alcohol free, and attend AA meetings on a weekly basis. How does one going about proving sobriety, and that they don't pose a substantial risk of drinking and driving again? What are the chances of at least getting a restricted license?

  • Answer:

If you are currently employed, you may be eligible to apply for a license that allows you to drive to work, and possibly to your AA meetings. The only way to know for sure if you qualify is to contact the DMV for your state, each person's record is unique and the circumstances for each is different. It's not so much about proving sobriety, each state has laws regarding DWI suspensions/revokations and the process that is required to get your license back. It also depends on how close the DWI's were, if both were within a year of each other, you probably won't qualify, however, like I said, each state has it's own laws/regs, give the DMV a call and see what they can do for you.

When they revoked it, they should have given you directions on how to go about reinstating it. If they didn't, call and ask.
