Can an expired registration ticket be dismissed?

In in ny state and my registration for my car expired the 3/1/08 I got a ticket can I win?

  • I got a ticket at 12:11 on the 3/2/08 the thing is i ordered the current registration online and I had the sticker in my house(since feb/08) for a while now just never got a chance to put it on so I have a current registration can I fight this ticket and win

    You're supposed to put it on the plate, not just order it and leave it home. Did you have current registration ON your car by 3/1/08? If yes, you can fight the ticket and win. If not, pay the fine.

it is you re responsibility to have the proper stickers on the car in NY.if you had them before the expired date the judge might just let it go with a wag of the finger,but he is correct that you are to have them on the car by the last day.call it a life lesson.it would probly be no points and a small fine.

If you can show when you bought the sticker and you take the proof to court,they most likely will drop the ticket. I had this happen with a license renewal and had the sticker in the car when I got stopped. The policeman watched while I put the sticker on and didnt give me a ticket.

Yes you can win, it should have been posted on the vehicle but as long as you had it in your possession it's still valid.

Admist what you did, and maybe you'll get a warning or a reduced ticket (ex.: illegal parking)

you might be able to get the ticket reduced or forgiven (unlikely) you would still have court costs and such. i would go to court in any case though. it was a valid ticket.
