Can I take my driving test in another state?

If I have a California Permit, can I take my actual behind the wheel driving test in another state?

  • I have my California permit but I'm going on vacation to the east coast, I was wondering if I could just take my behind the wheel driving test over there????

    You can NOT get a California Driver License with out taking the driving test in California. You can NOT drive in any other state with a California Instruction Permit. It is only valid in California. This is basic, common sense knowledge. Don't they teach you any of this stuff in Drivers Ed.?

It depends on the state your going to because some states have different rules and regulations.

Your not going to be able to do that because you have to pass the written test to get your permit. Each state has different road regulations so you would then be required to take the written test in that other state to get that state permit then you would be able to take the driving test in that state.

How old are you?! -- You don't need to answer that... There is no way that you would get away with just a CA permit. All states have different laws about that, especially if it is just a "permit". Remember that if you have a permit (At least in CA), you need to be accompanied by a licensed adult.

no you cant take the test in another state due to state laws. you also cant drive in another state pther than cali if your on a permit
