Will my insurance go up if I attend traffic safety school?

Can i wait till after i pay my speeding ticket to go to traffic school so my insurance wont go up?

  • I got a speeding ticket last night for driving 80mph on 65mph highway. I have Allstate insurance. I got it in los angeles california. I already went to traffic school this year for failure to signal but its almost been 12 months.

  • Answer:

Process for taking traffic school is you must notify the court that you wish to take traffic school. Generally, you pay your ticket and then notify the court you wish to take traffic school. So yes, you can wait until you pay your speeding ticket to go to traffic school. FYI: if your going to go to traffic school, I would recommend doing it online with www.TicketRelief.com. They were quick and easy!

Well it won't really matter when you go to traffic school. If you pay your speeding ticket or if you go to court to try to fight it and then lose, ending up paying for it, it gets sent to your insurance. HOWEVER, I don't know about allstate but my friend has state farm and he got 2 speeding tickets, but his insurance never went up. When the ticket gets sent to his insurance, there is no "red flag" or something that pops up in their system that he got a speeding ticket. They only find out if they do random check ups on peoples records, then they will see it. Also, while state farm didn't know about his tickets, every other insurance company did when he tried to switch insurance companies to save cost, because they all asked for his driver lic. # and they ran his record on the spot. He stayed with State Farm, cause he found out everyone wanted to charge him a **** load more money! I'm sorry you got a speeding ticket, I bet everyone was doing 80 on the freeway, but YOU were the unlucky one. My friend once asked a cop, "everyone was doing 80 mph, why did you pull me over"? The cop said, "when you go fishing, do you catch all the fish, or just one or two?" He has been trying to slow down cause of the speeding ticket costs....Now he's always stuck behind some old geezer doing 55 when the rest of the world is passing him at 80! Go to court and try to beat your speeding ticket...who knows, you might just win! I hope you win, good luck!

When you receive your certificate of completion for traffic school, you must present it to your insurance company. If it's the same as the Defensive Driving course elsewhere it will provide a discount on some portions of your insurance; however your points will stay on your driving record.

"Almost" 12 months won't do it. Sorry, not only will the 80 in a 65 show up, there's a good chance you had a years probation on the failure to signal and it will show up too.

In Texas, you call the judge and request taking the traffic school and you don't have to pay the ticket and it dont show up on yore driving record. (this was the way it was in about 82' when I did it)

In California - - You cannot go to traffic school again for 6 more months For future reference: - If you pay your ticket, it's basically an admission of guilt and you cannot go to traffic school afterward. Your insurance will increase at your renewal when your carrier reviews your MVR(Motor Vehicle Report) - If you post the bail amount and plead not guilty and the cop does not show, the judge will dismiss in your favor. YES! - If you go to court and the cop does show up, then be prepared to immediately ask for traffic school from the judge when he calls your case. (provided you haven't been in last 18 months) Tip: Pay attention to the other cases in court that day, don't make the same dumb remarks most people do when they are called on. Good Luck!!!!

I didn't have to go to traffic school for my ticket 87 in a 70. I just had to be careful for 6 months for it to clear off my record. Your insurance shouldn't go up at all but it depends on the agency. The only way to get it to go up is if you wreck someone your fault or his. But thats Kansas

In California you must go 18 months before you attend traffic school again. You might be able to get an extention of your court date. Then when you go into court plea "not guilty" which will give you another 30 days usually. If you are lucky, the cop won't show up for court and your case wil be dropped. In L.A. your insurance rates with Allstate will increase once they catch wind of the violation.
