How long will it take to get a title for my car?

How long does it take to get a title to a new car in Atlanta/Georgia area?

  • I bought a new CR-V almost a month ago. The dealership told me it would be 3 weeks before I received the title but I haven't received it now. Does it normally take this long? I paid for the car in full.

  • Answer:

When you buy a car from a dealer, the dealer sends paperwork to the State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), who issues a new vehicle title in your name and sends it to you. It can take 3-4 weeks for this process to run its course, especially around the Holiday season... I'd give it another week or so, and then if you haven't received your new title, go back to the dealer and let them find out why the transfer is taking so long.
