Please help me, got into a car accident?

I got in a car accident, please help?

  • I got in an accident two weeks ago. I was at fault. I was making a left turn and I hit her front left front tire. I was driving my mother-in-laws pt cruiser and my mother-in-law was behind me driving my bf's car. We both (myself and the other girl driver involved in the accident) don't have license n both cars don't have insurance. No police report was made. Nothing. Just a call for a tow truck to pick up the other parties vehicle. So we left the scene. She just asked for my number and address. I gave it to her. I had her name n her number as well. Two days passed and she shows up to my house. Overall story is she n her husband are demanding we fix or pay them 1000 cash in order to fix her car. I really don't have the money for her. I'm more worried about fixing my mother-in-laws car cuz she'll give me time to fix it. My question is, what's the worst that can happen if I don't pay her or fix her car. They seem like they would try and sue. Take me to court. I'm scared but my family members say she can't no more because no police report was made and its too late. Not enough evidence they say. I'm not a bad person, if I had the money I would but I don't. Opinions please.

    from a legal standpoint you are in the clear, because neither one of you should be driving. At this point, its he said she said, and what that means is your work against hers, and since you have something she does not have (your mother in laws a witness) she is what we call S O L because your witness kind if gives it a 2 for one edge. And she cannot be stupid enough to stand up in front of ANY JUDGE (regardless, the judge could do traffic tickets too!) and say I had a suspended license yap yap yap, and the judge would toss it out right then. You are in the clear, make it clear also to the dimdot loser who hit you that she owes you a grand for messing up your car, you have a witness. TRUTHFULLY, I am glad none of you were injured, if the couple of grifters show up again, explain your next call will be to the police, do they have any warrants, and say goodby as you slam the door needlessly hard. stay out of trouble ok? any one could sue anyone, but in this case, she would lose because you have a witness, and she has no license, so should not have been driving anyhow.

Lack of a police report will matter little considering both cars are damaged and you gave her your information. She can sue, and you can be ordered to pay her by the court. See if she'll accept payments.

The damaged party has a right to expect prompt compensation for their loss. You had better figure out how to pay them $1000. If you don't pay, they can (and should) sue you for the amount, plus legal fees and court costs. Then they can obtain a judgment against you and have your wages garnished. They shouldn't have to eat the expense because you drove unlicensed and uninsured. The accident was your fault, and legally you owe them the money.

Nothing because you both had no license or insurance so she can't do any legal thing about it to get the money so enles she trys to do any harm to you or family or ect you are all good cuz you both can't do any thing about it ...... p.s for the next time some thing like this happens and you don't have a license or insurance don't give them your real name address or nunber

She can definitely sue you. Whether she had a licence or not is irrelevant, you damaged her car and she can sue you. She may get charged and fined for driving unlicenced, but if the fine is only $200 or $300 and she is going to get $1000 to fix her car, it might be worth taking the risk from her point of view. You also will be charged with unlicenced driving.

Explain to them that you are low on money. Work out a payment schedule that you can afford. Maybe $50/mo? If you do settle, get it all in writing so you don't get taken to court later.

Ahh, you have the advantage of blackmail. She doesn't have a license or insurance if she sues you she will be putting herself in the shark tank as well. There is no point for her to be even trying to scare you into paying for damages, they need to call it even. You are both not license or insured so it would be a lose lose situation if you go down, she will too, simple as that. And if there was no police report, she cannot just show up in court and say that you were involved in accident, they won't take her word for it. Also, I should mention this: never admit fault when you are involved in an accident. Even if you know you were at fault you shouldn't admit to it unless it is proven because it would be worse for you. I feel bad that you were involved in that accident and as for your in law she can't claim anything from you because she didn't have the car insured. Good luck!!

Yes it's too late for them to do anything now. No police report means no evidence. You could easily say it was her fault. Although its your fault the accident happened It's not your fault that she didn't have insurance and a valid drivers license too. The best thing for you to do if they decide to take you to court is hurry up and go get your licenses and don't drive anymore cars with out having insurance on them. If they stalk you or anything then I would go to the police because it could get ugly.

I would tell her to go fly a kite. If she and you are wise, you will fix your own cars and be done with it. If she doesn't agree to forget it, She would then have to sue you (and win and collect from you) if she wants to pursue it. What kind of people drive without a license or insurance ? You better hope that you never run into me or my family because I will sue you (and win) for everything you have now or will have in the future. How is it that you can afford a computer, but not insurance? Note: those who say she can't sue because you had no license or insurance are not only wrong, they are DEAD wrong! Anyone may sue anybody at any time for any reason under the sun.
