What is the best way to get rid of nerves before a test?

Best way to calm your nerves on a driving test?

  • i have just booked my test for a couple of weeks. i had a mock test with my instructor (he used to be an examiner) so does the voice very well. as soon as it was the mock test i went to pot. everything went wrong even though i never make mistakes with him. im so worried i will fail cus of ma nerves. he sed that i dont need anymore lessons apartt from mock tests as i cant learn anything else and i need to do my test so any good calming advice?

  • Answer:

Just think about it like this. If you fail the first time, you can always take it again. There is no extra pressure just drive how you normally would and try not to think of it like you're on a test. Good luck =D xxx

I got really nervous on my first test and mucked it up. The second test was on the last day of my theory test being valid, so I thought if I don't do it now I never will, plus I went with my dad who was a really calming person. So if you try to think differently and get someone calm to accompany you to the test centre. Good luck

take it easy,it's only a driving test! after years of being stuck in traffic jams you'll start wondering what all the fuss is about, as regards to driving in the first place! lollol

URBAN SOUL

Tell yourself over and over: I am ready for this. I can do this. Everything will be fine. Do not take any weird substances. Get a good night's sleep the night before and every time you think about it, say: I am ready. Everything is fine. Breathe deeply and smothly and try to stay still, Pay attention to the words-you are listening. It will help a great deal to calm your nerves. IF you fail, you can retake the test. It is no big deal. Lots of people have to retake tests. It's normal.

Think of the biggest idiot you knew at school and i bet he/she has passed their test despite the fact you thought they could not even tie their own laces. Well, you being cleverer will know you have the ability to pass. Also remember if you are confident in using the brakes to stop the car when you want then you are safe so the rest will fit into to your psychy and make you relax.

I talked to the examiner, it takes your mind off it - it helped that i supported Bristol Rovers and he supported Bristol City, hence there was some camaraderie. if you find some common ground to chat about, you won't even think about the fact you're being tested.

I failed 2 mock tests, then on the lesson before my test got told "drive like that and you've wasted your money". I passed first time with 2 minors. Just relax and don't think of it as a test just imagine you've gone out for a drive. Good luck.

Get some 'Rescue Remedy' from Boots the chemist (or any chemist). It works a treat. My daughter had it before her test and passed, I am not saying it will help you pass of course, but she was like a jelly fish! Good luck! :)
