Car Accident! Insurance HELP!?

  • Ok so i rear ended a car last wednesday, and me and the person i hit pulled over, and since it was both our first time being in an accident, i preferred not to put it through our insurance, due to the risk my insurance will go up, so i offered to pay for the damages out of my pocket, and she agreed. So the person called me and i told her to get an estimate and ill pay it off. She agreed and got an estimate, and i agreed to pay it off. I got the money and I went to their house and i gave them the exact money for the bill. After giving her the money she tells me that her husband filed a police report, but she said it was ok and not a big deal. So i went to the police collision station and completed the report, only to find out that they required my insurance, and that i need to report it to me insurance company. WTF!! we both agreeed not to put it through my insurance and I payed her out of my own pocket! I got a case number from the police station and they tell me to report it to my insurance company. So now i dunno what i should do. I have a clean driving record, no accidents no nothing. So should I report it to the company? Or if i tell tem would they not know? And would my insurance rate go up now? I live in Canada Ontario. Thank you Very Much!

  • Answer:

You need to let your insurance company that you paid her. I hope you got a receipt. Your insurance company will pay her since you already, by paying her admitted fault. So let them know by giving them a receipt or she will get paid twice plus your rates will increase. What a b**ch!

ok 1st of all try going back to that person..and having her fill out a statement saying that she clears you of any damages and cost(since you paid her) ...i live in los angeles CA, and i hit a car..and did the same offered to pay so i wouldn't report it..the other person agreed..the thing is i wrote out a letter saying that she will not look for me and try to claim damages or any injuries since i paid.. i personally went to the auto body shop and go a receipt to cover my a$$ in case what happened to you hap pend. so try that 1st see if that person will sign that for you that way she cant tell the police that you hit and run..u know? i dONT know the laws in canada...but try that 1st go back to that women! and next time document EVERYTHING!!!!!
