What is the punishment for driving without a license on me in CA?

What is the punishment for driving with a passenger within the first 6 months of having a driving license?

  • I've looked everywhere as to what is the consequence to what happens when pulled over while driving with passengers (not siblings or adults) prior to the 6 month clearance time. All I can find is the fact that that is indeed the law, but I am unable to find what is the punishment for this. Are you allowed warnings, if so how many, is it just a fine, license suspension, is it up to the policeman's discretion? Things like this. If it varies from state to state, I live in Indiana. Please site sources if possible. Thanks in advance for all help.

  • Answer:

Your license is basically probationary to see if you can obey all traffic laws. In most jurisdictions your license would be suspended until you turn 18. A suspension on your record would make getting insurance almost impossible, and extremely expensive if you could. So......is it worth the risk?

It all really depends on state, and judge. Yes the state can impact the what the fine is but, a judge if having a bad day could in turn make your day miserable. There really isn't a source other than calling in operator control or looking at your local DMV's website, and see what the fine is. But, like said judge can make it better or worse depending on day or severity.

Call the local court house and ask for traffic court. But typically it is a suspension for a long time perhaps up to the age of 18. This is serious and you should not even try it. In this forum not only was a 16 year old violating the terms but also got into an accident. A double whammy. Teens are involved in one million car crashes a year mostly due to lack of experience, distractions, improper training, risk taking, etc. and the state's restrictions are there to minimize the death and injury rates caused by these crashes. Best wishes.

I don't know what country you live in, but here in the USA, we don't have any such restriction. Once you get your license, you're good to go. The only restrictions are common sense and Dad's wallet.
