How to get out of a ticket for out of state drivers license?

I got pulled over for running a red light in oregon and i have a hawaii drivers license. he wrote me a ticket for the red light and hawaii drivers license. he said i had 30day from the day i moved here to change over but i been here for a year. Is there anyway i can get that ticket dropped? someone said go get a oregon drivers license before the court date and they will drop it. is that true? any advise anyone?
Answer:

They won't drop the red light ticket, of course. I think the advice was, get your legal Oregon driver licence, plead stupidity in court, and they MAY not proceed with the charge of driving WAY past the time limit on your old Hawaii licence. If you don't get the licence before the court date, you could actually be pulled over and given ANOTHER ticket for it.
