How do I make a motorcycle faster than the standard?

When buying a motorcycle from a seller, how do I make sure its not a stolen or salvage title?

  • I was wondering because I am about to meet a few people tomorrow to try and buy a motorcycle. How do I make sure they are not going to sell me something with a salvage or stolen title. Because in AZ you DON'T have to go to the DMV with the seller to put the bike in your name. All everyone wants to do is to go to a bank or some place else that will do a notary. With the notary you as the buyer takes the title to the DMV and puts it into your own name. I don't like doing that becasue by the time I get to the DMV to put it into my name, I have no idea if the seller was telling me the truth. I mean what if the guy lies and its not even in his name? What then? I've already given away the money. I would have to track down the original seller and hope that he helps me. I hate how everyone wants to do it this way. Yeah its convienent for the seller, but a burden for you as a buyer to go there and hope that everything works out of you. But most people are completely fixed into this style of selling and wont go to the DMV with you. Its like they want the trust worthy credit and you can see if oozing out of them. Like it sweetens the deal so much for them because you have to completely trust them. Any way for getting around this or any advise on how convince someone to go with you to the DMV even if they refuse to sell you the bike with a canard of excuses.

  • Answer:

the notary is the one who asks for positive id in order to finnish the transaction. So as long as the name on the title and the name and id they give the notoary are the same that is proof that is the owner ok? I ask to see After running in to people who claim "yea I got the title::" AND THEN DONT I do not bring out the money until I have inspected the title first. Its that simple. I have had people pull out a wad of papers and claim its the title but knew fI knew better and just told them no deal and learn to wak away One guy I asked on three seperate occasions to go see the car, I made him an offer that was based on him having to show me the title which he not as yet produced I asked him three seperate times and he yes I have the title. I took a friend of mine to drive my muscle car back home, and as I walk ed into the house I immediatly spotted three guns. a 357 magnum a shotgun behind the front door I just walked through and a 9mm near his hand but under a news paper. He opened a drawer and pulled out a ripped stained piece of paper that said auction across the top with a price of 70 dollars didnt even have an auction name across the paper or even a signature. I told him I was not buying the car and why And headed for the door. The guy lived on the main road and there were plenty of people right outside walking around so I went to leave. My friend who was in the way was sputtering something I damn near threw him out the door as I got out of that house. The guy was screaming at me the whole time "your going to buy my car!" As we walked down the sidewalk to my other car over and over he kept screamng. HE LOOKED LIKE HE WAS GOING TO FLIP OUT FACE ALL RED. I dont know what he was thinking and i didnt care. I was just glad to get away from the nut with the guns. After that I started meeting people in a bank lobby. It works great never even been questioned by staff ever and its the safest place I can think of besides the police station. you can also call the dmv and give them the vin numbers and find out if the bike is stolen ahead of time when you want to also.or if there is a lien holder on the title. And dont forget you have the CASH so you are in control. if they do not SEEM TOO receptinve walk you have THE money its your ball game

If you're that concerned then don't buy a motorcycle privately, purchase the motorcycle from a dealer/shop that sells used bikes. Then if anything is wrong then you go after the company that sold you the bike.
