Can insurance companies tell me what car would be the cheapest for me to insure?

The problem is there are so many cars. say 100 manufacturers, each one making 20-30 cars, each car could be up to 20 years old or even older, then you have a massive range of different engines and different trims. There is probably 10s of thousands of different cars, so each time you did a search you would actually be doing thousands of searches. Best thing to do is look at each manufacturer, find the smallest car, find the smallest engine and then finally the most basic model - should be one of the cheapest to insure.

Parkers website has a list of cars by group, and the lower the group, the cheaper the insurance as a general guide. However, the age of the car is also relevant, so a group 3 which is a good bit older than a group 1 car can work out cheaper. http://www.parkers.co.uk/insurance/#ig=0 shows the list

It depends far far more on the person than the car. If you're getting quotes for things like 1.0 Corsas and Kas that's about as low as it'll go.
