I've googled it, and came up with different answers...so yeah i'm not to sure. Anyway, do i need to have a drivers education course to take the test?

  • Answer:

Yes you have to take a drivers education course: "A person under age 18 must show proof of driver education..." http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/driver_licensing_control/graduateddriver.htm

Yes. You must be 18 if you'd like to skip the class and go right to getting your license.

You can wait until you are 18 or older, and not have driver education as a requirement, but at 16, yes, you will need it. And you will need to show attendance in, or graduation from, school also. A person under age 18 must show proof of driver education, verification of current enrollment and attendance in school (or high school graduation or GED), proof of social security number, as well as proof of identification. TRC 521.204, 521.222 and 545.424
