Is Driver Ed required in Virginia to get your license?
-
I am 15 and a half and am going to get my permit in less than a month. Some of my friends are taking Driver Ed (they live in Maryland), but I haven't gotten around to asking anyone from Virginia if Driver Ed is required to get a license in Virginia. Please help. Thanks

Answer:
In Virginia, you may apply for a learner's permit at the age of 15 and 6 months. If you are under age 19, you must provide proof of successful completion of a state-approved driver education program and you must hold a learner's permit at least nine months before you can receive a driver's license. So, yes, a state-approved driver education program is required to obtain a driver's license in Virginia. Many high schools offer driver education programs, or you can pay to take a private course.
