Can I legally drive my fiances mothers car; will her insurance cover me?

Will my insurance cover me if I drive someone elses car?

  • Ok so I'm 16 and I live with my mom and step dad. They don't want to add me to their insurance policy(I don't blame them). my dad wants to add me to his insurance policy. I don't live with him but is it possible for his insurance to cover me so I can drive my parents car?

  • Answer:

insurance companies can do it any way you want, but the cost will impact the policy.so your dad can put you on his policy, with the coverage extending to other vehicles, but his rates will go up.and as for your mother and step dad, they may not want you on their policy, but they will have to deceive their insurance company by not telling them that they have another licensed driver living in their home.insurance wants to know all of the licensed drivers that live in the home, and will not allow the(he won't be driving our cars line),they assume that in some scenario you may need to drive one of their cars for unforeseen reasons,as well as that if you are sued, they being your legal guardian, they could be drawn into a lawsuit.so they will ultimately be held liable for their under age children.they are seriously uninformed.good luck.

No. If you live in your step-father's house, then you must be listed as an additional driver on his car insurance before you can drive his car.
