I need advice on how to become a better driver?
-
Im 20 years old and have just now started driving. I got my liscense when I turned 18 and up until now I have never really driven before. I moved away from my small town and into the city with my boyfriend. I just recently got a car and have finally decided to start driving. The problem is I'm a terrible driver. I have no experience, especially on city roads and there isn't anyone available who can ride with me, so when I go out to practice driving, Im just by myself. I'm so terrified of driving. For as long as I can remember I have always been told that I can't drive and that I would never be good at it (before I had ever even been behind a wheel) My parents also never let me drive because they were "afraid that I would wreck". As a result, I'm completely psyhed out and I truly believe I"ll never be good at driving. To make things worse, even though I am just now learning how to really drive everyone expects me to be perfect at it. My fiance and his friend are always poking fun at me for making any type of mistake and my best friend also keeps making fun of me for not being a perfect driver. Its like they keep forgetting this is all new to me and all they are doing is psyching me out even more. I live with my fiance's parents and they also just made fun of me because my car was parked crooked. I really want to be able to do this but it's hard to have confidence when EVERYONE is just putting me down and making fun of me. Is it possible for me to ever become a decent driver and stop making so many mistakes? Is there something wrong with me for not automatically knowing what to do? Do I have any hope at all? I'm really bummed right now and would love some words of encouragment. Basically I'm just tired of everyone telling me I shouldn't ever drive because I'm so bad at it. :-(

Answer:
i failed my test 3 times. no big deal. had loads of lessons too. you'll get there. tell people you wouldn't be so bad at driving if you had spent some time driving! don't let it get you down. keep going. it'll work itself out and eventually you will got into auto-pilot and things become second nature.

You just have to let go of the bad stuff people say. Just focus on the road and drive. Relax and have fun

Take your time and keep your eyes on the road. The best way to get good is practice.
